Grid-walled Turtle Treehouse

This is the first platform design I ever made. It is a more economical and customizable option since the materials are more affordable and easier to work with.

This design mounts on the top rim of the tank, which means there are no legs or supports taking up swimming space underneath, and you can fill your tank as full as you’d like to give your turtle more space to swim and move around!

There are links below to the materials I use for the platform, feel free to build one yourself! I want every turtle to have a nice place to bask to keep them healthy and happy, and help keep their turtle parents happy too!

Materials

Some of the links for the materials are Amazon links, but other materials aren’t available (or at reasonable prices) online so I definitely recommend checking your local hardware store for those.

Egg Crate Louver

This is the material used for the main platform and the ramp. It cuts easily using wire cutters. It typically comes in 2-foot x 4-foot sheets and one is typically enough for a platform and ramp, but if your platform is larger than 11”x17” you’ll need a second sheet. Home Depot, Lowes, Menards

Flush Cut Wire Cutters

I use these exact wire cutters and they are awesome. I like the ‘flush cut’ type because it allows your to cut and leave a smooth finish instead of having a small piece leftover.

Cable Ties x38

You’ll use these to attach the bottom, top, and side walls together. Once attached they form a rigid and durable structure. You’ll also use them to attach the ramp to the platform.
